Rural Maynmar proved better than anticipated

Even though completely disconnected from the world and hard to get to, Burmese countryside was warmly welcoming and in a way relaxing. If you allow yourself to spend two days traveling to a place like Indawgyi Lake you will be reworded 100 times. I allowed myself Monday-Friday and I am kicking myself for not giving it more time for the three days were lost in transition and I only got to sped two nights at Lonetoen village by Indawgyi Lake.

Shortage of power and very basic accommodation is nothing in comparison to being able to socialize with the local village community, contribute to local school, attend football matches and many more. You cannot put price tag on these things

Hopin guest house

Accommodation couldn't get anymore basic than that! Before and after ;)

Squeezing between local truck riders

Road from hell on top of an overloaded truck together with 15 other local men and boys.
First time I was not able to be clustered with women as there were none!

Still waiting to hit the road. So are two taxi bicycle men, not much business today!  High class in the background, really?!

The pic was taken from between two men's shoulders squeezed in the middle of the group. There is no courtesy on this vehicle one has to fight for their spot. And so I ended up without a sitting in the middle of hot metal part separating two parts of the truck. First 1,5 hrs we spent circling around and getting more carriage and more people, while every time I thought we reached the full mark they added another person or another crate .. This truck seemed magically stretching each time space was needed.

Billboard vs. reality
Funny clash of a billboard advertisement and the reality of thee wheeled taxis. This was my taxi ride in Mytkyina from and to the airport. I felt sorry for the driver who had his little boy stuck on his lap in the front. His vehicle was in very rough condition but still moving. It is funny how the price in Maynmar is scarcely related to quality of service as the taxi trip of three wheeled motor-truck or an air-con taxi car cost the same. There is an official price list in each town for common tourist services and you will pay the price irrespectively of the quality. The same applied to food and eateries,  there are going rates for breakfast dinner and lunch, very rarely I encountered price differentiation based on what was served; people seem to be more fair and logical in rural places that in towns, they feel instinctively they should not be charging the same price for a noodle soup with 5 vegetables as with 0, duh!
